Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police were dispatched to the Dover High School at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, when two non-specific bomb threats were made over the phone.
The Sheriff's Office said that because the threats were not specific to a specific school or building, the high school, Middle School and both elementary schools in the district were evacuated and searched by investigators, who found no suspicious devices or packages.
Officials said the investigation led to the identification of a 14-year-old student who was interviewed and deemed responsible for the threats, which he said were a prank. Police said that the student’s name will not be released due to his age, and he has been taken into custody and charged as a juvenile under the jurisdiction of Family Court.
Dutchess County Sheriff Capt. John Watterson said more information may be released later.
